A weighbridge in the South Burnett Region was hit by lightning in October and stopped working. In less than 24 hours our local service team had diagnosed the weighbridge and made a plan to move forward that would see the customer operational again (1).
Upon diagnosis it was found that lightning had damaged 4-of-6 CAS WBK Loadcells that support the weighbridge, the Primary Indicator and 2 Remote Repeater Displays. Our expert technicians gave the customer a professional recommendation, with responsible consideration towards a timely and economic rectification, which in this circumstance was to refit the weighbridge with new weighing electronics. Our service team had a quote to the customer within one hour of diagnostics and the go ahead from the customer same day (2).
We retro-fit the SWIA SWDC Digital Loadcells to replace the faulty existing loadcells, used the SWIA 3590 as the Primary Indicator and the DGT Remote repeater displays for this solution.
As each of our local branches all stock this equipment (3), all we had to do was return to site with the modified loadcell assemblies, decommission, replace the weighing electronics, recommission and Re-verify the Weighbridge for trade. This meant that the customer was open for business again within 3 days of the Lightning Strike (4).
