Australasia Scales Workshop

Weighbridge Systems for Sale

SWIA offers a variety of vehicle weighing scales. Weighbridge systems for sale (as known as legal-for-trade), truck weigh pads for wheel weighing vehicles, industrial truck scales for weighing axle groups statically or weighing trucks in-motion. Our solutions can be customised to meet the specific needs of your operation. Whether you're in mining, transport, waste or government services, our weigh bridges ensure seamless weighing processes with exceptional reliability.

We offer:

  • Above Ground Weighbridges: Ideal for areas with high rainfall that can accommodate a typically larger footprint on site, with the addition of ramps.
  • Pitted Weighbridges: Where on site real estate is at a premium or for conditional END-and-END weigh of larger vehicle combinations.
  • In-motion weighing scales: Though not currently legal-for-trade in Australia, we can give valuable insight for truck loads and chain of responsibility (COR) weighing.
  • Custom designed Weighbridges: To handle bespoke heavy loads with precision.

Public Weighbridge Services

While SWIA specialises in installing, and servicing public weighbridges, we do not directly operate these facilities. However, we provide comprehensive services and tailored solutions for companies or government entities looking to install and manage their own public weighbridges.

SWIA ensures that each weighbridge we install is built to the highest standards, working closely with third-party engineers to ensure any truck weighbridge we deliver for our client is structurally sound and is compliant for legal-for-trade verification. Whether you're looking for a public weighbridge solution or simply need servicing and calibration for an existing weighbridge, our team is reliable and are leaders in our industry.

Weighbridge Calibration and Compliance

To maintain weighing accuracy, regular calibration is essential. SWIA provides legal-for-trade verifications, compliance audits, and adjustments for all types of weighbridges, ensuring your system is weighing accurately. Our high-capacity calibration vehicles and verified masses allows our expert service team to verify systems of up to 300 tonnes, giving even the largest weighing scales the option to leverage our regional presence and extensive experience.

Weighbridges by SWIA

Not sure where to start? Then read over these questions to get a better idea on what you should be looking for.

SWIA’s weighbridges are the culmination of over 4 decades of design and manufacturing experience matched with leading-edge weighing technologies. Our tailored solutions are backed by local services teams and locally stocked parts. Our weighbridge software option and integration capabilities provide additional value, allowing seamless processing and reporting for your operations.

Regular maintenance is critical to maintaining accurate and repeatable measurements. SWIA recommends that our licensed technicians conduct a preventative maintenance inspection service of the hard-working components and electronics, such as the loadcells, travel stops and weight displays every 6 months and calibration adjustment and verification every 12 months. Our expert team may recommend an alternative maintenance schedule based on your specific environment, usage or historical performance.

If you notice weight discrepancies, it’s essential to first check that the weighbridge is moving freely under load and is not binding on a build-up of debris underneath the deck or something that is caught between the weighbridge deck and any pit walls that may be impeding the repeatability of weights. These are very common faults that is easily managed with good house-keeping practices. If there is no obvious binding, SWIA can provide on site diagnostic services to troubleshoot and resolve any weighing errors efficiently.

What are the differences between an above-ground and pitted weighbridge?
An above-ground weighbridge is better suited to high rainfall regions as water can easily escape the weighbridge foundation and loadcells. An above-ground weighbridge also allows for easier access for cleaning from under the deck and general maintenance. The trade-off is that, in most cases, ramps are required which increases the on-site footprint of the weighbridge.

A pit weighbridge is should be considered to reduce the overall weighbridge footprint by eliminating the need for ramps.

This type of installation is also suited for END-and-END weighing of larger vehicle combinations in two weighs, or for axle group (sometimes referred to as split weighing). The weighbridge approach and exit needs to be flat and level so that the section of the vehicle that is not on the weighbridge is level in the same plane as the weighbridge deck to achieve the best accuracy possible. This method of weighing is not as accurate as weighing the compete vehicle in one transaction.

When planning a pit weighbridge stormwater drainage and access for cleaning and maintenance is an important consideration.

Yes! SWIA offers end-to-end services, from supplying and installing your weighbridge to scheduled servicing, compliance audits, and legal-for-trade verifications. We ensure your system runs smoothly from day one.
