In a distribution centre, the cost of a weight is the time it takes to get one. Forklift scales weigh the pallet as it is lifted, drive-on pallet and floor scales sit in the aisle, and counting scales turn a tray of parts into a stock figure at the pick bench.

Trade-approved models are available wherever the weight is charged, and the indicators, terminals and software tie the scales into the warehouse system.
