November 2010 Australasia Scales supplied, installed and trade verified an 18m x 3.5m semi pit weighbridge at All Metal Recyclers International in Wetherill Park NSW.
The need for a full length weighbridge was necessitated by the customers increased business growth, requiring them to ensure all trucks were weighed prior to leaving site to avoid vehicle overloading. Vehicle overloading results in the driver and the vehicle owners being fined for exceeding vehicle maximum loadings.
The semi pit weighbridge design best suited the site conditions of limited access at both ends of the weighbridge. An above ground weighbridge would have required longer access ramps and would have increased the weighbridge site footprint. The weighing deck of a shallow pit weighbridge is at ground level and provides easier truck access both on and off the weighbridge.
The 60tonne x 20kg fully hot dipped galvanised steel concrete infill weighbridge was fitted with 6 heavy duty CAS canister type load cells, a robust Rinstrum 5000 indicator, D740 external remote display for easy viewing of weights by drivers and also supplied was a Standard Metal Recyclers Software package installed and linked to the customers operating systems.
